AS-levels: half the size, their own scale
| AS grade | UCAS points |
|---|---|
| A | 20 |
| B | 16 |
| C | 12 |
| D | 10 |
| E | 6 |
An AS-level counts as half an A-level, but only when it is a different subject from your full A-levels. Doing extra half qualifications is one of the routes covered in how to get more UCAS points, alongside the EPQ. Taking a vocational route instead? See the BTEC UCAS points tables.
A-level points questions
How many UCAS points is an A* at A-level?
An A* is worth 56 UCAS points — the top of the A-level scale. An A is 48, a B is 40, a C is 32, a D is 24 and an E is 16.
How many UCAS points is AAB?
AAB adds up to 136 points: 48 + 48 + 40. ABB is 128, BBB is 120 and AAA is 144.
How many UCAS points do three A-levels give?
Anywhere from 48 points for EEE up to 168 for A*A*A*. Three grades of C (CCC) come to 96 points, and BBB is 120.
Do AS-levels earn UCAS points too?
Yes — an AS-level is worth half an A-level in size: an A at AS is 20 points, down to 6 for an E. But an AS in the same subject as a full A-level does not count separately.
